My name is Mike Staples. This site is in no way going to showcase my immense stockpile of art projects. It shouldn’t. But paring it down to those that highlight my underlying commitment to accuracy, diversity, and ingenuity is difficult. I hope you enjoy the projects that made the cut!

Creative Process

My process begins with an idea and then the Bob Ross technique of layers kicks in. Everything I do is broken down into layers. Making sure the base of any project is correct is the first step and then the multitudes of subsequent layers follow. Be it on my iPad, scratch art, fly tying, etc. All of it. Trying to determine when to stop is the hard part.

Vision for Art

My vision is everything is fair game. If I can make something interesting, beautiful, funny, or inspiring then the time is takes to do it is worth it.

Future Goals

My ultimate goal is satisfaction. Be it, for myself, the client for a commission, or a friend or family member who gets a project as a present. All of this is therapy for me and if I can enhance someone else life and mine at the same time, all the better. At this point in my life, if I can make a living helping someone either through my existing art, or through using the talents I have to enhance a company in anyway, I would be overjoyed. I just want people to see and enjoy my stuff.
